This touching documentary explains how Edgar Cayce (1877-1945), a simple farm boy from Kentucky, became the most phenomenal psychic of the 20th century. The director uses both archival photographs and sepia-toned "home movies" to recreate the many major events in the life of the “sleeping prophet.” Many scenes were shot in the actual locations of their occurrence in both Hopkinsville, Ky., and Virginia Beach, Va. Footage is enhanced throughout with music of the period.

Included in this documentary are interviews with Edgar Cayce's son, Edgar Evans Cayce, his granddaughter, cousins, family friends, and well known and respected authors and historians.
